During COVID-19, many members’ livelihood of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF or hereafter the Fund) of Uganda was disrupted, and Government expedite the amendment of the NSSF Act to allow the savers access 20 per cent of their saving if they reach 45 years and have saved for over ten years. This new benefit was termed Mid-Term Access.

To receive this benefit 112,000 members were eligible for the calendar year 2022
(January–December). This was going to be an uphill task given that the Fund previously paid approximately 20,000 members annually.

South Sudan Pensions Fund (SSPF) is in the process of receiving the contributions from Khartoum for all the pensioners who worked in Sudan before South Sudan was given autonomy in 2005, and subsequently, became independent in 2011. This is in line with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and South Sudan Pensions Fund Act, 2012.

South Sudan, as sovereign nation, has the Constitution and Pension Fund Act, 2012 mandate to follow up and ensure the contributions for the civil servants who worked in Sudan before independence was transferred to South Sudan.

Myanmar’s Social Security Board (SSB) has been struggling with its capacity shortage and unsatisfactory service to clients for a long time. As a result, the rate of increase in the number of insured is small if compared to neighbouring countries. Tracking only in the old ways leaves no room for development. SSB itself realizes some reforms should be implemented promptly to have some progress. The streamlining of the process for the Employment Injury Insurance (EII) is one of SSB’s administrative reforms.

Mutual Association for the Protection of the Family

In 2018, the Department of Social Services Education at Argentina’s Mutual Association for the Protection of the Family (Asociación Mutual de Protección Familiar – AMPF) began to develop a series of workshop materials with a view to arming psychologists and social work professionals with resources to deal with the issue of gender and raise awareness in this area.

Training materials for use in the workshops have been circulated to the AMPF’s various branches across Argentina.

We were predicting that a large number of persons who had fled the Russian aggression in Ukraine to Finland and are under temporary protection would become customers of the Social Insurance Institution (Kansaneläkelaitos – Kela) after residing in the country for one year and thus getting broader entitlement to Kela benefits.
