XXI World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2017

International Media Festival for Prevention 2017

The X International Media Festival for Prevention at the World Congress for Safety and Health at Work in Singapore in 2017 attracted 235 entries from 38 countries. From these entries, 48 productions were nominated for the Media Award by international juries of media and prevention experts. During the Special Media Session in Singapore, nine entries - six films and three multimedia products - were awarded in front of 3000 Congress’ visitors.

The Special Media Session was moderated by Martina Hesse-Spötter, at that time Secretary General of the ISSA Electricity Section and now Chair of the Section, and Chris Brow. According to Mrs. Hesse-Spötter, "the countries of origin were as diverse as the approaches of the producers”. She added: "Films are much shorter today. Many films are no more than 60 seconds.  We see much greater use of emotion in films and the impact of accidents not only on workers but also on their family, friends and work colleagues."

During the 3-day Congress, all the nominated productions were presented in the IMFP Cinema: a room with a big screen, a stage, popcorn and Singaporean specialties. This cinema allocated around 100 persons.

All the nominated participants had the chance to have an interview with a member of the Jury in order to tell the audience more about their production.  This was a great platform for discussion about media in the prevention area.
