Webinar organised in collaboration with the ISSA Liaison Office for Southern Africa

How to adapt the anti-evasion and anti-fraud mechanisms to the context created by the COVID-19 crisis? This question constitutes a major challenge for social security institutions in Southern Africa.

The COVID-19 crisis has led to the introduction of new benefits and/or the loosening of control and conditions of granting benefits in order to face a surge in demands and to meet the requirements of confinement and social distancing enacted by most countries in the region. At the same time, to cushion the impact of the economic crisis on companies, a range of measures concerning contributions included exemptions, deferrals and less strict enforcement. Both sets of measures have considerably increased the risk of error, evasion and fraud (EEF).

Based on the ISSA Guidelines on Error, Evasion and Fraud in Social Security Systems, this webinar will explore ways to adapt anti-evasion and anti-fraud policies to the new context created by the COVID-19 crisis.
