Launch of the ISSA Focal Point for the English-speaking Caribbean countries

In order to strengthen regional cooperation, facilitate access to ISSA services and better tailor activities to regional priorities, the ISSA and its member institutions in the region are launching the Focal Point for the English-speaking Caribbean countries.

By agreement of the regional membership, the National Insurance Service (NIS) from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will be the first institution to chair this newly created regional structure.

The  launch will be honoured by messages from key personalities and will provide the opportunity to introduce the Focal Point and its work plan for the coming months.

Webinar on digital transformation of social security institutions and resilience

The launch will be followed by the first activity of the new Focal Point that responds to an expressed high priority in the region: An ISSA webinar that will address the potential of digital transformation of social security institutions to strengthen resilience in times of crisis.

During the past months, social security institutions in the Caribbean have digitized parts of their operations to ensure service continuity in the context of COVID-19 restrictions, protect their employees and contribute to national crisis responses.

As institutions continue to work to create a robust technical infrastructure and end-to-end digital processes, learnings from 2020, as well as from other countries that have reached an advanced stage in their digital transformation, can guide the next steps in the region.

Based on these lessons, the webinar will focus on enabling factors and strategies to overcome barriers to enhance resilience through digital transformation.
