The Regional Social Security Forum for Africa is Africa’s biggest social security event. The Forum will take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 30 June to 2 July 2020, at the invitation of the Social Insurance Institute - National Social Insurance Fund of Côte d’Ivoire.
Organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), the Forum will bring together around 400 senior managers from social security agencies, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations. The Forum will constitute a landmark opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing, learning and liaison, enabling participants to forge links with other professionals in the social security sphere.
For leaders and decision-makers
The event is aimed at leaders and senior managers of Africa’s social security agencies. The Forum is exclusively open to ISSA member institutions. Invitations will also be extended to a number of ministers, policymakers, experts and representatives of international and regional organizations, such as the International Labour Organization and the African Union.
Key social security themes
Centred on a report published by the ISSA, the Forum will address a range of topical issues related to social security in Africa. In a world that is evolving increasingly rapidly, the Forum aims to provide answers to key questions concerning the universal goal of achieving universal social protection by 2030 – questions that include:
- How can we develop and improve on social security management practices?
- How can we extend and maintain social security coverage?
- How can we respond to the changing needs and expectations of the population?
- How can we optimize social security’s contribution to social cohesion?
ISSA Good Practice Award
The Forum will showcase innovative work and good practice on the part of Africa’s social security agencies. It will also see the prestigious ISSA Good Practice Award for Africa presented.
