Communication is an essential part of the institution’s strategic plan. The strategic plan includes a communication road map that identifies shared objectives, aligns the work of staff and resources, positions the communications role and ensures the ongoing support of internal and external stakeholders.
A strategic plan spells out the key business strategies and plans of action of an institution over a three- to five-year period. It is implemented by way of an annual communication plan.
