14th ISSA International Conference on Information and Communication Technology in Social Security

Towards ICT standards and common solutions for social security

The 14th ISSA International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Social Security will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2 to 4 September 2015, at the invitation of the Ministry of Health and Social Development and the State Social Insurance Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Conference will provide a unique global platform for the analysis and discussion of some of the critical issues facing social security institutions and their management of ICT. The event is expected to gather more than 300 participants, and is aimed specifically at Chief Information Officers (CIOs), ICT managers and experts as well CEOs and senior staff from ISSA member organizations.

ICT plays a strategic role in the improvement of the performance and service quality of social security organizations, as well as to enlarge the scope and impact of social security programmes. While technologies have become more accessible to social security organizations, the implementation of large-scale and mission-critical systems can pose important challenges to institutions which have to manage the technical and economic dimensions, as well as the rapid evolution of technology.

The Conference will feature contributions from diverse social security institutions in all regions as well as contributions by world leaders from the ICT industry. The event will include presentations by international organizations and independent experts.

The Conference sessions will focus on the following:

  • An overview of current experiences with integrated, large-scale ICT systems in social security institutions, analysing both good practices and challenges.
  • Identification of common ICT-based standards and solutions for social security, for example: data exchange systems, Master Data models and quality criteria, managing common software packages, etc.
  • A session dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the forthcoming new sections of the ISSA Guidelines on Information and Communication Technology, which will cover some of these issues.

The International Conference is open to ISSA members and invited participants. The working languages will be English, French, German, Kazakh, Russian and Spanish
