The 16th ISSA Forum for Technical Commissions (TC Forum) took place virtually on 30 June 2022. In this event the technical commissions (TCs) shared their outputs developed in the 2020–2022 triennium before the World Social Security Forum (WSSF).
The TCs play a crucial role in the development of knowledge in the International Social Security Association (ISSA). There are 13 technical commissions altogether, of which six focus on horizontal areas in social security administration and seven are dedicated to branch specific aspects. Once every year the technical commissions gather for the TC Forum to coordinate, discuss and share knowledge. The ISSA’s Working Group on Rehabilitation also participates in the Forum.
The TC’s triennial work plans run until the World Social Security Forum taking place in Marrakech, Morocco, from 24 to 28 October 2022. Hence, the 16th TC Forum was important to prepare and discuss the final deliverables, in particular a number of technical reports, as well as revised and new ISSA Guidelines. New guidelines on business continuity and resilience, as well as on human resources management, will be presented at the WSSF. In addition, existing guidelines on actuarial work, communication, social security coverage, information and communication technology, and promotion of sustainable employment will be updated. The various technical commissions are also expected to publish more than 15 technical reports in connection with the WSSF.
The TC Forum was organized as two virtual sessions. Secretary General Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano and Director for Social Security Development Raul Ruggia-Frick provided the technical commissions with an update on ISSA activities, in particular cross-cutting projects, preparations for the World Social Security Forum 2022 and plans for the ISSA Programme and Budget 2023−2025.
