The Seminar is organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in collaboration with the German Federal Working Group on Safety and Health at Work (BASI) and Rehabilitation International (RI) back to back with the Occupational Safety and Health Trade Fair and Congress (A+A), which will be held from 18 to 19 October 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany and is open to ISSA members and participants of the A+A Congress.
Absence from the workplace due to accidents and sickness is a major challenge for the world of work and for social security systems. Prevention of occupational accidents and diseases helps to reduce absenteeism from work. It is the goal of many insurance schemes to maintain the employability of workers and to bring back those who are not in active employment due to work related sickness or accident.
The objective of the event is to report on the potential benefits of rehabilitation and reintegration programs as well as on the latest developments in this area. Maintaining employability is viewed from several perspectives, e.g. from the viewpoint of accident insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance and pension insurance, as well as from the perspective of employers and the persons concerned by a work accident.
The following questions are discussed:
- How can prevention and rehabilitation activities be carried out effectively and economically at the same time?
- What are the challenges for labour protection and social security systems when conducting these activities?
- How do prevention and rehabilitation activities contribute to the reduction of workrelated risks?
- What synergies can be created through partnerships and collaboration in the field of reintegration?
The event is aimed at social insurance institutions, public administrations, workers, employers, and all others who may be interested in the subject.
