ISSA TECHNICAL SEMINAR

IEN Technical Seminar on social security and the future world of work

8–9 March 2018 | BrusselsBelgium

The ISSA European Network (IEN) is organizing a Technical Seminar on the topic of social security and the future world of work, from 8 to 9 March 2018 in Brussels, Belgium, hosted by the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (Institut national d’assurance maladie-invalidité – INAMI) of Belgium.

Technological evolution is reshaping the world of work. Internet platforms, robots and artificial intelligence make for new forms of work that do not necessarily fit the traditional definition used by social security.

Schemes and institutions have to adapt to this new reality. In order to address this very important challenge, the IEN will organize a technical seminar on the evolution of the world of work, in collaboration with the INAMI.

The main topics that will be addressed are the new forms of work and their impact on social security schemes as well as the need to achieve adequate coverage and levels of benefits and at the same time guarantee financial sustainability. In this context, an area of specific interest will be to discuss if the universalisation of benefits could be a potential and viable solution.

The Technical Seminar is open to ISSA member organizations from the European region.
