ISSA Webinar: Meeting the COVID-19 challenge for the elderly and disabled − Growing caregiver needs and telemedicine

Thursday, 8 October 2020, 15:00−17:00 (UTC / GMT + 2 or CEST)

Languages: Simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish

To address the challenges posed by COVID-19, mutual benefit societies − as key actors in comprehensive social protection − have progressively implemented a set of measures to enhance the capacity of national social protection systems. Throughout the world, social protection systems have made it possible to provide specific benefits and services to the most vulnerable groups of the population, such as the elderly and persons with disabilities.

In particular, the COVID-19 crisis has reinforced the importance of nurses and care staff, as well as online services for the most vulnerable groups, where telecare has become vital for people with reduced mobility because of their health status or confinement restrictions.

This webinar will showcase the respective innovative responses of mutual benefit societies in Latin America and other countries in the context of the global pandemic.
