Together with its member BG Verkehr, the ISSA Section on Prevention in Transportation coorganizes the international industry conference "Underestimated Hazard: Falling from Vehicles", which is scheduled to take place on 21 and 22 November 2022 at the BG Verkehr (Ottenser Hauptstr. 54) in Hamburg, Germany.
According to the accident statistics of the BG Verkehr, falls from height when using access steps and working platforms on vehicles or superstructures are among the most frequent occupational accidents. The sectors of freight transport and waste disposal are particularly affected. Here, serious injuries with long periods of absence - or even fatal accidents - occur regularly.
What are the causes and how can the number of accidents be sustainably reduced in practice? These questions will be addressed at the international industry conference "Underestimated Hazard: Falling from Vehicles" (conference languages: German and English with simultaneous translation).
A fall can be the result of inattentiveness, but it can also be the result of missing, unsuitable or defective access steps, walkways, platforms, fall protection or hand holds on goods vehicles. This industry conference will focus on:
- Workplaces on vehicles
- Railings
- Steps
- Covering and uncovering of containers
Keynotes by renowned experts will launch the joint discussion of possible solutions for the prevention of falls from goods vehicles.
