The ISSA recruits Professional and General Services categories of staff. Professional staff members are normally internationally recruited for functions which require a university degree and a high level of functional skills and may involve supervisory responsibility. General Services staff are designated as support staff and are normally recruited locally.

Conditions of employment at the ISSA follow those of the International Labour Office (ILO) and the United Nations remuneration system.

Technical Specialist in Social Security – Actuarial and Investment

The International Social Security Association (ISSA) is recruiting a Technical Specialist in Social Security – Actuarial and Investment. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of international developments in this area, and to work with a global network of social security institutions.

Based on a solid knowledge of actuarial work and investment in social security, the incumbent will:

  • Build knowledge and services for ISSA member institutions, mainly focused on the actuarial and investment areas such as the respective ISSA Guidelines.
  • Develop and manage projects on social security, particularly related to social security financing and actuarial work. Coordinate activities of ISSA technical commissions.
  • Provide technical and strategic advice to ISSA member institutions on the development of social security systems regarding financing/actuarial considerations.
  • Prepare ISSA conferences, seminars and workshops, in particular the ISSA International Conference of Social Security Actuaries, Statisticians and Investment Specialists.
  • Develop relations with international organizations, notably the International Actuarial Association (IAA) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
  • Contribute to ISSA member engagement and recruitment strategies.

Technical Officer in Social Security

The International Social Security Association (ISSA) is recruiting a Technical Officer in Social Security (P2). This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of international developments in this area, and to work with a global network of social security institutions. The incumbent will:

  • Contribute to research on social protection schemes in different regions, as required, and assist in validating collected data for input into the ISSA social security databases, particularly in Spanish.
  • Liaise with surveyed social security organisations in all the regions, particularly Spanish speaking, as required, to compile and consolidate inputs to the ISSA social security databases.
  • Contribute to analysing data in ISSA databases and monitors, and support the preparation of ISSA publications based on the analysed developments.
  • Support ISSA staff and external collaborators in a range of activities that feed into the various ISSA social security databases, and provide orientation to interns, as required.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and updating of social security information in the database and its diffusion on the ISSA web portal, liaising with IT and Promotion specialists as required.
