Inland Shipping Industry Conference: New Technologies – Opportunities and Risks for Occupational Safety and Health?

24–25 January 2024 | HamburgGermany

The inland shipping industry is facing major challenges. Energy transition, shortage of skilled workers, digitalization are the keywords. The transition to becoming a low-emission transport carrier is right at the top of the agenda. Which energy source will prevail, what will be the basis for moving inland waterway vessels in the future? At the same time, the question arises as to whether people will still be at the helm in the future. The first steps towards automated and remote-controlled inland waterway vessels have already been taken.

What opportunities does this create for the industry? Can we expect new risks and hazards for the health and safety of crews? These are the questions addressed by the Inland Shipping Industry Conference organized in close cooperation with our member BG Verkehr and which will be held in Hamburg, Germany, on 24–25 January 2024, with international participation. The conference can be attended both in person and online via live video transmission. The conference language is German.

More details and a registration page are available at Die Branchenkonferenzen der BG Verkehr (only available in German).
