Technical Seminar on Unemployment Insurance Systems and Youth Employment Policies

8–9 July 2010 | BrusselsBelgium

The Technical Seminar on Unemployment Insurance Systems and Youth Employment Policies will take place in Brussels, Belgium, 8-9 July 2010. The Seminar is hosted by the National Employment Office, Belgium.

In view of the economic and social challenges that social security is increasingly facing, which are exacerbated by the financial crisis, the objective of the Technical Seminar is to focus on the various measures, programmes and incentives that have been introduced over the past years to facilitate the integration of young workers into the labour market. Youth unemployment remains indeed, in most countries, perceptibly higher than the rest of the workforce and evidence shows that a number of social security institutions have taken measures to address this situation.

Through the presentation of selected examples of good practices and panel discussions, the Seminar will showcase in a very concrete manner how targeted employment policies (including fiscal and/or financial incentives, targeted benefits and training programmes), can increase the labour market participation of young workers.

The working languages of the seminar will be English and French. The seminar is open to ISSA member organizations and invited participants only.
