The ISSA Academy diploma programme aims to enable ISSA members to gain a better understanding of the aims and objectives of the ISSA-ILO Guidelines and the use of the guidelines in improving actuarial related work within their institutions.

The ISSA-ILO guidelines provide guidance to different stakeholders in their work as it relates to the planning, management, financing and provision of social security benefits. The guidelines are structured to provide a list of issues to consider and recommendations in the carrying out of these duties. These duties will vary according to the stakeholder concerned and may include performing actuarial calculations, providing or formulating policy advice, supervision, reporting, management and communication. They assist actuaries in their efforts to meet international and national standards as well as regulatory requirements.
This course will cover the material in the guidelines together with relevant examples to highlight the practical use of the guidelines. Subjects covered include actuarial valuations, benefit calculations, policy issues, professional requirements, risk management and reporting.
Who can participate
The training course is aimed at actuaries and other social security professionals undertaking actuarial work as well as board or management members of the institution, policy-makers and other stakeholders overseeing or reviewing actuarial work.
How many people can participate
Each training course has places for up to 25 participants from ISSA member institutions.

Applicants should complete the online form no later than 12 May 2017, supported by a nomination letter from their sponsoring institution indicating how the participant will be financed.
Cost of participation
The cost of participating in this course is Euro 2.180 (Euro 1.580 for tuition fees and Euro 600 for subsistence), excluding international air travel and airport transfers. This is payable in advance by the participant’s sponsoring organization. This covers tuition fees; the use of training facilities and support services; training materials and books; accommodation and full board at the Centre’s campus; emergency medical care and insurance.
