The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF, hereafter the Fund) of Botswana’s mandate is to promote road safety and compensate those affected by road traffic accidents in the form of benefits (medical and rehabilitation costs, funeral costs, loss on income, loss of support and other necessary social support services). The total benefits payable by the Fund are limited by 1 million Botswanan pulas (BWP).

The case management system (CMS) project for the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF, hereafter the Fund) of Botswana was implemented in 2018. MVAF identified the need to find ways to provide prompt and timely compensation and intensive rehabilitation to its claimants. The case management section was established in 2009 under the Customer Services Department to oversee medical treatment and rehabilitation and the overall welfare of its claimants.
