The Regional Social Security Forum for the Americas (RSSF Americas) is the biggest and most important social security event in the region. The Forum will take place in San José, Costa Rica, 4⁠–⁠6 September 2023, at the invitation of the Social Insurance Fund of Costa Rica (Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social – CCSS).

Organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), RSSF Americas is a landmark opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing, learning and networking, enabling participants to forge links with other leaders and professionals in social security.

For leaders and decision-makers

RSSF Americas will bring together leaders and senior managers of ISSA member institutions in the region. Invitations will also be extended to several ministers, policymakers, experts and representatives of international and regional organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Ibero-American Social Security Organization (OISS) and the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS).

Key social security themes

The Forum will address a range of priority issues for the region. The extension of coverage, the evolving protection needs of populations and the leadership role of social security institutions for the development of social security systems in a context of complex labour market, economic and demographic developments will be some of the important aspects discussed. The Forum will also focus on how management and service delivery are transforming, and how social security can contribute to resilience and sustainability.

ISSA Good Practice Award

RSSF Americas will showcase innovative work and good practices from social security institutions in the region and present the prestigious ISSA Good Practice Award for the Americas, including the new ISSA Special Distinction for Innovation. All ISSA members in the region are encouraged to participate in the competition.

Languages

The Forum’s working languages will be English and Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in both languages.

Practical information

RSSF Americas will be open to delegates of ISSA member organizations and invited institutions. There is no registration fee for ISSA members. Participants will be responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Representatives of non-member institutions are requested to contact the ISSA General Secretariat for the terms and conditions of participation.
