Business Continuity Management System

Implementation year
2012

The Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) board of directors have decided to develop and implement a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) to help provide efficient and reliable social insurance and protection services, and to achieve its objectives through:

  • Ensuring the continuous performance or quick resumption of essential insurance services (registration, contribution collection and inspection), and support operations to beneficiaries during an emergency.

  • Reducing or mitigating any disruption of insurance services.

  • Protecting, preventing loss and minimizing damage to life, property and other assets.

  • Establishing and implementing a thoroughly documented Business Continuity Management System that has the necessary plans and processes in place.

  • The ability to proactively identify the consequences of business interruption.

A BCMS is required  especially with the increasing number of natural and other threats in the world and particularly in the region, such as:

  1. Disruption of the power supply or telecommunications.

  2. IT  failure or corruption of systems and databases.

  3. Human error, sabotage or strike.

  4. Information security-risk hacking, internal breaches.

  5. Social unrest or terrorist attacks in the region.

  6. Fire.

  7. Natural disasters: floods, earthquakes, hurricanes.
