The Social Insurance Fund of Costa Rica (Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social ‒ CCSS) launched a free mobile application which gives access to the Single Digital Health Record (Expediente Digital Único en Salud ‒ EDUS). The purpose of this was to increase access to and coverage of health services in Costa Rica so that insured people are more aware of the information in their clinical profile and can access their information in a timely manner using a mobile device.

In the medical devices list, all the medical devices to be reimbursed are presented. German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the foodstuffs and catering industry , Germany , Europe

The BGN Trainee App is for trainees (particularly in their first year of training) and those starting out in the hospitality industry and is intended to ease the transfer from school to work. The app covers six subject areas: career, stress, sleep, movement, nutrition and emergencies. The app is rounded off with a contact database and professional advice. It was developed as part of the "Innovation and Demographic Change in the Hotel and Catering Industry" (Innovation und demografischer Wandel im Gaststätten- und Hotelgewerbe (INDIGHO)) project.

National Social Security and Insurance Trust , Sierra Leone , Africa

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) was established through an Act of Parliament and is charged with the responsibility of administering the Sierra Leone Pension Scheme. NASSIT started full operations in January 2002 as a defined benefits pay-as-you-go pension system. Membership is compulsory for all workers in the public and private sector and optional for self-employed persons and workers in the informal sector.

This good practice, Consultas ANSES, was aimed at creating a new channel of direct communication with citizens through social networks, with the objective of answering queries on social security programmes and benefits in an easy and fast way. This application for online queries is directed to social networks users and, in a year of implementation, managed to answer in real time their most frequently asked questions (FAQ) and to solve complex queries by means of a personalized customer service.

The channelling of benefit payments through banks since 2004 put an end to the physical contact between the Togo National Social Security Fund (Caisse nationale de sécurité sociale – CNSS) and the beneficiaries of pensions and annuities. BPJS Kesehatan (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial Kesehatan) is a public agency established to implement the social security programme. The ultimate vision of BPJS Kesehatan is "Universal Health Coverage"; to provide all participants with health care benefits and protection to meet the basic needs of health care. As Indonesia is fourth most populous country in the world there are a large number of participants, so BPJS Kesehatan is facing constraints in the participants' registration process.

The plan includes the design, development and implementation of nearly 50 new e-services in the period 2013-2015. The Argentine State uses socioeconomic assessments and means tests in order to determine if citizens are entitled to social security benefits, based on objective criteria.

The digital architecture used to implement these socioeconomic assessments is provided by Argentina’s Federal Administration of Public Resources (Administración Federal de Ingresos Públicos – AFIP). Using data from its databases, it is possible to systematically monitor the income, assets and spending of people who apply for social security benefits.

Superintendency of Occupational Risks , Argentina , Americas

Medical committees issue decisions determining the percentage of disability caused by occupational accidents or diseases. Moreover they intervene in the cases of discrepancies over treatment or advice concerning return to work, and to determine the occupational nature of an accident. The management model used is entirely digital and provides a simple, effective and rapid tool for workers, reducing the time taken to process each step and offering the possibility of providing medical consultations when the application is made by the worker, thereby improving the service.

National Family Allowances Fund , France , Europe

For two days and a night (36 hours non-stop), 17 teams (70 people in all) from the public sector and with volunteer staff from Family Allowances Fund Offices worked on (open) data made available by the Family Allowances Fund to discover how this data could be used for the benefit of the public.

This collective intelligence exercise, which was carried out non-stop under time constraints, delivered high-quality results and met a wide variety of objectives.
