The Universal Child Allowance (Asignación Universal por Hijo (AUH)) for Social Protection was adopted by Decree 1602/09. It is a monthly non-contributory allowance, payable for each child under age 18 (no age limit in the case of a disabled child), up to five children.

Beneficiaries are those family groups that, besides not receiving any other benefit, are unemployed or workers registered as single tax payers/microentrepeneurs ("monotributistas"), or working in the informal labour market or in domestic service, and who earn less than the minimum wage.

In the past, these evaluations were strictly medical and considered only biological aspects. The current model is based on a joint social and medical expert evaluation from a bio-psycho-social perspective, which recognizes existing barriers, as well as performance limitations and restrictions for persons with disabilities.

Currently, 1,972,585 people with disabilities receive benefits in Brazil (Source: SUIBE, Sistema Único de Informações de Benefícios [Unique Benefits Information System, Jul/2012). SUIBE, Jul/2012).

Cervicouterine cancer is a priority health problem not only on account of its high incidence and severity, but also because it is preventable in nearly 100 per cent of cases.

For this reason the ISSSTE conducts prevention campaigns, such as the Papanicolaou stain survey which in 2011 reached 32 per cent of those covered in the White group between 25 and 69 years old.

The Bank Employees' Pension Fund (CJPB) welcomed this opportunity for improvement and entirely restructured its previous system for the collection of contributions, setting up a distance mechanism (internet) based on a secure connection. This presented a number of advantages including the elimination of transfers of cash and highly sensitive information on paper and over-the counter transactions in the presence of the public, using a distance telecommunication system (SICORE) which enables those concerned to carry out all their tasks from home or wherever they choose, via the web.

The objective of this System is to provide workers who are contributing or have contributed to the IMSS with information on the number of weekly contributions per year and on contribution records for the five most recent employers through a more practical, efficient and rapid procedure.
