On 28 April 2023, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) passed a resolution on the social and solidarity economy for sustainable development. The International Labour Organization’s (ILO) definition for social and solidarity economy implies voluntary cooperation, mutual aid, democratic governance and autonomy.

Various types of organizations, including mutual benefit societies, in their activities put the primacy of people and social purpose over capital in the distribution and use of profits and assets. Noticeably, mutual benefit societies are the forerunners of modern social security organizations that provide services in line with principles and values anchored in the social and solidarity economy.

Join us for this ISSA webinar that will mark the UN recognition of social and solidarity economy for sustainable development and share first-hand knowledge about how mutual benefit societies contribute to reducing poverty, coverage gaps and building resilience in times of crisis.
