Accountability is one of the five core principles of good governance in the ISSA Guidelines on Good Governance. It is pivotal to uphold the integrity and efficacy of social security institutions and ensure that responsible decisions and actions are taken. The ISSA Guidelines can help establish policies, standards and practices that ensure adherence to the institution's mission.

Accountability entails implementing robust mechanisms to safeguard stakeholders’ interests and deter mismanagement or deviation from the institutional mandate. It sets the basis for providing objectivity in their performance review and promotes a core set of corporate values such as integrity, excellence and respect for individual rights. Accountability is essential to ensure the availability and accessibility of accurate, essential, and timely information to ensure stakeholders are well informed of the true state of social security programmes and how they are being managed, specially in institutions with multi-partite representation.

This ISSA webinar will discuss experiences from institutions that have developed an environment conducive to accountability, thereby fortifying the foundations of social security institutions and ensuring their sustained relevance and efficacy in serving the needs of society. It will dive into the multifaceted dimensions of accountability within social security administration as part of their decision making processes in fields such as strategic planning, risk management, financial sustainability, digital governance, performance management and internal and external control systems.

Join us for this ISSA Webinar that will discuss experiences from institutions that have strengthened their accountability and good governance.
