The BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Indonesian Social Security Administering Body for Employment will be hosting a Technical Seminar on “Expanding Social Security Coverage in the Disruptive Economy Era” which will take place in Bali, Indonesia, from 6 to 7 February 2018 in collaboration with the ISSA Liaison Office for South-East Asia.

This Seminar will discuss the impact of economic disruption, the digital economy and changes in the world of work on social security systems and the capacity of social security institutions to work towards the extension of coverage. A specific focus will be on the coverage of digital platform workers as well as the enabling role of technological innovations for efforts to extend coverage to difficult-to-cover groups of the population. The role of communication technologies and efforts to improve awareness of social security among the population will also be discussed.

A number of keynote presentations including by speakers from the OECD, World Bank and ILO as well as the sharing of practical experiences by ISSA member institutions will make this Technical Seminar an ideal occasion to learn and exchange about some of the key future challenges for social security institutions in the region and globally.

The Seminar is open to ISSA members from around the world and invited participants only. The languages of the Seminar will be English and Indonesian, and simultaneous interpretation will be provided in these languages. Participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs.
